The Shadow

I’ve placed this lone page on my site to let friends and clients know: YOU’RE NOT DOING IT WRONG WHEN YOU FEEL SAD, OFF BALANCE, FRUSTRATED – EVEN ANGRY.

The path of the Light Worker is one that leads us into great energy and the opening of new, once dormant impulses – of mental, emotional, spirtitual awareness.

With the flushing out of our energy systems often comes the surfacing of shadow parts of ourselves. As these aspects are released, we “feel” them, sometimes identify them as ourselves. This can be confusing at times: “How come, if I’m making all these advances in my spiritual life, I feel like such a lousy slug?”

I’m just writing this to remind you: These shadow pieces are a part of you. They can have great strength, can be overwhelming when they appear on the surface. But the key is to realize and remember that “all things are in motion, all things flow”; we are not the parts of us that we do not choose to be. And we don’t have to let the momentum of those parts do our choosing for us.

The thing to do is to either wait out the storm, let these pieces stream through and out of us as we send them on their way – not identifying with them. Or, we can call up our coach and let that person share this difficult time with us – standing there to remind us who we really are.

Sometimes the shadows can be scary. Recognizing them as evaporating waves of “our past” rising to the surface and moving out can be very helpful.

Ultimately, we really do choose who and how we want to be. Sometimes we have to “allow” that image to take hold.

As our chosen new life patterns are accepted into the system, they replace the old ones. Don’t be fooled by those released energies. Don’t hold onto them, thinking “this is really who I am”. Just let them pass.
All things pass.

Only the Perfect, Illumined Soul is forever.

Here’s a meditation/visualization that can be helpful:

Go to your inner seat of Self. Even though you may feel sad or anxious, still, ask to see the aspect of you that you really want to be expressing. Example: perhaps you’re feeling the heaviness of depression. At that moment you may wish to see the “light hearted”, enthusiastic you.
Even if that part of you is not dominant at the moment, identify it and speak within yourself such choices as the following:
I believe in the light hearted me.
I give my Light to the light hearted me.
(and visualize yourself doing this)
I step aside for the light hearted me.
I fill myself with the light hearted me
(again, visualizing this)

note: try to avoid being anxious about this. just allow these thoughts to come from an authoritative part of your seat of power. If fear arises as you’re moving through this process, send light to that thought and say “I believe in my all powerful confidence. I fill myself with all powerful confidence” etc.

Keep sending these instructions to the subconscious field of your energy system:

I allow the light hearted me to replace who I am now.
I allow the light hearted me to rise to the surface.
I Know I AM the light hearted me.
I send Light to the enthusiasm to move forward with a light heart.
My whole body, my emotions and thoughts are infused with the Light of this light hearted me.
(and, see it).

It may help to visualize this part of yourself as a child that you are feeding. Feed Light to the child. Imagine it sitting on the seat of your heart. See it filling your aura with its living essence.

You may also want to protect your light hearted self from the onslaught of external “world moods.”
You can do it this way.

“I accept a protecting army of ten thousand angels of Light around my energy field.”
- or something similar that works for you.

The idea is to constantly feed the more positive, desirable aspect of yourself – to accept it, expect it, allow it, know it, trust in the power of Light to empower it, and to give way to it, trusting in your own creative authority.

Hope this is helpful. What it really is is simply a means of strengthening our natural ability of choice – but doing it on an internal, energetic level, adding building blocks of belief, acceptance, and knowing to the process of decision making. And empowering that process with the energy of Inner Light.

A Guided Image

This is also the Light, this anxiety, this yearning, this search, the feeling or thought that “I’m not there yet”. This is the Light, rising up from the depths of soul, entering in through portals of heaven. This is the Light, troubling the heart, pounding on the gates — making you miserable.
This is the Light, sweeping your cluttered house, uncovering fantasies of comfort and indulgence. This Light is change, insisting that you follow after it. It is a beacon, dissatisfied with the status quo.
You are being asked to wrestle with things, answer impulses, question purpose. But don’t question the rightness of Light. Let it do its work. Release the clutter. Open your heart.
Here is the Light, on the surface, raising a storm; while, under it all, at a point of stillness, is purity, rest.
Feel the opening of children’s arms in each cell of your body, the current of luminous sparkle running through veins. Feel the pulse of Light on the skin of your palms, pressing outward, opening, clenching, dancing to the “flow of Spirit”.
This is the Light, speaking to the soul, clarifying intent, rearranging priorities. You are not just involved in your own life – but also in ours: we, the Children of LIght.
Feel us, under the insistent waterfall of intuition, or at the bottom of a silent sea, swimming mer-people whose tails flick with the speed of destiny. This is the Light, revealing a Radiant Dream, an inner Knowing, a great sense of interpersonal Wonder.

Don’t let yourself be troubled when you feel alone. This is truly the path that you’ve been called to walk. This is the Way of Illumination, always unfolding, always becoming more and more clear. Breathe. Breathe It in. And smile through the changes.
